What's New
by Jim Mock <[email protected]>
As usual, things around here have been pretty busy. We've been working
on a few different things (which unfortunately, aren't going to make it into
this issue), such as changing the colors of the site (am I the only one
getting tired of maroon and gold everywhere?), etc..
Here's a list of most of the stuff planned to eventually happen:
- Change the colors of the site.
- We will be using #252c72 and
#dedede. The headers (i.e., the
Date : Title table above this) will also have an outline around them. I
guess we're just ready for a change :-)
- Expanded news feeds.
- We will be adding addtional sites to the news
feed. If you have any suggestions for sites that should be added,
please send them to [email protected].
- Revamp the poll.
- This one is somewhat of a back-burner, but I'm probably going to look at
a few other ways of doing the poll. I think it also needs to be updated
more than once a month; possibly weekly.
- Browsable mailing list archives.
- No promises here, but I'm thinking it might be nice to have this
available. If this one happens, it won't happen for a while.
- Advertising.
- Banner ads, etc., but it will be mostly
free*, and mainly aimed
at community sites (i.e., Daemon News, The FreeBSD Diary, etc.).
* If you're a large company that can afford
to pay for advertising, then you should expect to do so, especially if you
are a non-open source company.
- Other stuff.
- I'm almost positive there is some stuff I'm forgetting to list, it never
fails.
We are also interested in what visitors have to say about these things.
If you think something is great, we want to know about it. If you think
something sucks, we want to know that too, so don't hesitate to
contact us.
Until next time,
